4 ways to elevate your home with decor

Looking to add a touch of style and personality to your space? Here are four ways to do just that using wall art, rugs, mirrors, and décor.

Choose your wall art wisely. Whether you prefer abstract prints, botanical illustrations, or vintage posters, art can fill empty walls to serve as a focal point in any room. Consider whether you need a canvas or glass print. It is also important to consider the appropriate sizing and overall design of the piece to complement your room.

Ground your floor in style. You can either choose a rug that complements your existing color scheme or use it as a statement piece to anchor the space.  In winter, a woolen rug is a great choice as it provides warmth and insulation, making the room feel cozy and comfortable. In contrast, during summer, a jute rug is optimal as it is lightweight and breathable. Rugs are also a great way to help define the living area from the dining room within an open plan home.

Create moments of reflection. Position a mirror opposite a window to reflect natural light or use a large mirror as a statement piece above a buffet or console table.  Mirrors can also create the illusion of more space in smaller areas, so they are perfect to use in tight hallways or entryways into the home.

Layer up! Don’t forget to add the finishing touches of throw pillows, vases, baskets and lamps. These small details can tie a room together and reflect your personal style. Mix and match different textures, patterns, and colours to create a layered and inviting space.

Ultimately, adding these finishing touches is a great way to showcase your personal style and make a room feel like home. So don’t forget to have fun with it and let your creativity shine through in the details.
